Welcome

Welcome to Epilog, the online catalog of The Archives of the Episcopal Church. Here you will find bibliographic records for a curated selection of our historical collections, with more being added as collections are processed.

The Archives holds records of the domestic and foreign ministries of The Episcopal Church’s official bodies, principally the governing body of the General Convention and the corporate entity, the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society. Other key records held by the Archives include affiliated church-wide Episcopal organizations and the personal papers of leading clergy and lay persons.

Each record represents a processed and accessible collection that can be viewed by approved application and appointment at the Archives Reading Room in Austin, TX. Included in each record is the title, date range, name of the creator, and a general summary of the collection. The Scope and Content note offers a more detailed description of the types of materials found.

There are several ways to begin your search. Enter keywords or names into the search bar at the top of the page to find specific records or use the Browse By menu to the left to browse the collections. Using the Classification link will allow you to browse by collection area. The Authority Records link will allow you to browse by the creator of the records, which could be a corporate body, a family, or an individual.

While the Archives does not publish its finding aids, this catalog is a great resource for beginning your research. You may submit a research inquiry at our research request form (https://www.episcopalarchives.org/research-request-form). Please include the reference number of the collections in which you are interested in your request.
