Name of creator

The Joint Commission on Renewal was formed from a 1966 House of Bishops request that the Presiding Bishop appoint a group to re-structure and renew national church bodies in the face of internal and social tensions weighing on the church. The resulting Joint Committee drew on several theological and ministry-defining entities to create a Consultation on Renewal (1968), which reported in 1969 on the need for ecumenical conversation to address the problem. Having defined the goal of renewal and approaches to its accomplishment, the Joint Commission recommended its dissolution in 1970.
